Simpsonville Real Estate

The City Of Simpsonville, South Carolina

Brief History of Simpsonville, SC

A village grew up in what came to be known as the Georgia Road, when a farmer from Laurens District, Peter Simpson, set up his blacksmith shop. The name of this small town was decided by its original inhabitant and it became known across North America for many years. As time passed this little hamlet had grown into an industrial powerhouse thanks to one man’s business sense that began with becoming a simple tradesman; before long they found themselves living next door to some cotton gins which helped them thrive even more! One day in 2001 though everything changed – entrepreneurs were persuaded (to build) the largest employer on site: The Simpsonville Cotton Mill where thousands worked. What spurred Simpsonville’s present growth was the arrival of the major water main and the widening of Highway 276 in the 1950s.
